Looks like my 05 Basscat Puma fenders. Im not a big fan of fiberglass boat fenders. David Sape in Va Beach could fix that up for you but it will cost a little $$.

I don't know what your particular boat company would say about those fenders, but if you want to know what I think they should do... the answer is "nothing".

I can't tell what you are trying to show in some of the later pictures, but the ones up top show a hard stone/rock/etc.. hit. Note how it spider webs out from a central location.

Now if there is a screw behind it, pushing out the fiberglass in the middle of that spiderweb - now that is a different story. I would expect them to fix it. But if there is nothing behind it that the boat manufacturer put there - then it's no fault of theirs - it's nature to blame.

Kind of like blaming a rock hit on your lower quarter panel on the truck manufacturer.... If there was a screw tip pushing out the panel and the paint cracked - dealer. If no screw - nature.

    All the best,
    Glenn

P.S. - sorry to see the cracks.

thanks glenn.......you would think that if this was common that they would put a liner or something on the inner wheel well to prevent that from happening.

Hey! Just noticed you live close by. I hadn't realized you lived in Portsmouth also!

I think I may not have been as clear as I was trying to be - the fiberglass is thick enough on the inside of that fender, that there is no need for a liner. I was saying a rock or something hit it from the outside. Kind of like a rock hitting your windshield - if you think about it - unless it takes a chip out, that is exactly what a rock hit on a piece of windshield glass looks like - spider webbing out from the center of impact.

Once again, so very sorry you have a chip in fenders that are that new. I know I'd hate it too... but it happens.

    All the best,
    Glenn

Although pretty, fiberglass fenders are very impracticule. Fenders prevent things from flying up from your tires and damaging boat/car..... Therefore something that cracks from impact is not the best choice. Stainless steel is the best in my eyes, and as long as you keep it polished it's sharp looking too. All the best!

the marks are on top of the fender so the only way that a rock could have done that would be from the inside of the wheel well and thats what ranger told me as well.....poor engineering if ya ask me. Line the inside with something/anything to absorb such impact by a rock/pebble.......

Glenn we talked a while back and you live right down the street.....you live real close to chesapeake right?

Yep. Sorry. I talk to so many people here, that unless I meet them and put a face to the name at least once (two to three times is better), I tend to forget who I've spoken to. My brain is running on outdated software. Sorry!

I meant he was smart not to post on the R board. I did not mean I was agreeing about the R boats....
