Its most likely air in the system, trim the motor down, use a block of wood to keep the skeg off the ground, turn the manual release valve counterclockwise about 3 turns, hit the up trim button, if the motor moves turn the manual release valve a couple more turns, hold the up button for 30 seconds, then hit the down button and hold for 30 seconds.

Tighten the manual release valve and see if that helped.

ok rusty did what you told me and it seemed to improve the situation some. the only time i hear the "strange noise now is when lowering the motor and it occurs just before the motor hits the trim rods. I tried to check the tilt fluid with the tilt support engaged but when i cracked the cap open fluid started coming out and what sounded like a small amount of air so i tightened the cap to keep the fluid from coming out. Also in my owners manual it states that when you use the tilt support that after lowering the motor down you should continue to hit the down button until trim rods retract. I left the down button on for over a minute and the rods never moved any more advise would be greatly appreciated thanks

If fluid runs out the trim unit is full.

You did not post which 200 you have but it sounds like you have a Fast Track trim unit and the trim rods will not retract.

hey thanks rusty youve been a great help. i have a xp vindicator and the trim is working fine except for that brief noise on the way down. can you have to much fluid in the resovoir and if so could taking some fluid out alleviate the noise?

I don't think removing any fluid would help.

    Glad to help.
