Add extra storage/Run pipe for future wiring?

I am in the process of replacing the wood and carpet in my PT185 Bass Tracker, and there appears to be space in the middle of the boat, between the stingers.

    1. Thought on adding in an aluminum box or two in the mid section (between the stingers) for extra storage?
    - I know they won't be water proof unless I seal them up tight or put a plastic liner in them
    2. Thoughts on running 3/4" PVC up the center (between the stringers) to get future power/etc. cables from the back of the boat (battery area) to the front?

    Thanks.

When I renovated my PT185 a couple years ago I ran all new wiring to the front, along with 2 spare 12 gauge wire sets "just in case". As you now know there is no easy way to get it up there unless you do it now. I did not run mine enclosed, but I did keep it p off the bottom.

Makes sense since it's already open. If you could fit 1" or bigger I would go with it. Largest that would work.

I would run it off the bottom, use some line clamps screwed to the stinger's. I put storage in a guys bass boat, I had to replace his floor. You will want bulk heads to keep item from going to the back to far to reach them. The one I did would fit 9 big plano box's under the floor. I would suggest using more plywood in the area of the the door/lid, you will want it t be sturdy. You could use the cut out for your lid, or buy a pre made plastic screw down frame and lid. With the amount of space you have you could have a couple of compartments in the floor. I build a 21' daycruiser and that's where I have a ski locker, with a teak door.

    Power:
No concerns on running conduit (with electric lines) in the section that is designed to collect water and funnel water to the back to the boat for the bilge pump to pump out?

I would basically copy the compartment lids for other areas on the boat, with the right thickness/support so they don't bend in. Thanks for the reply!

I wouldn't go any less that 1 1/2' pipe for the wires. You may want to pull a plug or simular thru that pipe and it would be impossible to due so in a 3/4 or 1" pipe. Make sure any joints are solid and water tight and that the ends angle up and the openings are above the water line so that no water can get in. I'd also run at least 2 sets of 10 ga wires before you put it in the boat. Much easier to do first.
