    hole shot still sucks. LOL

I have a under powered 1997 201 with a 1997 200 Johnson venom. The motor has been checked fully and runs good. My P2P is 4'' , 6'' jack plate. I'm pretty sure even though the boat has been takin pretty good care of that its heavy because of water getting in the foam over the years. I'm running a 23 Renegade that with a half a tank of gas all my gear and just me, It runs mid 50's at 5800 rpm's and the hole shot is about 15 seconds. I took my brother fishing yesterday and it took 30+ seconds to get on plain, when the boat does come out it does good and stays on plain at a decent low cruising speed. LOL HELP PLEASE!

I would have prop worked on by a good prop smith . A boat that old and if the prop is original it is water worn and probably out of wack . Props need to go a prop smith every 200 hrs . To keep the true . And replaced every 10-12 years but that’s just me .

I have a left over original 24" Bravo 1 that was modified for hole shot before I bought it. I have not advertised it but will sell if you are interested. The diameter was trimmed to 14 5'/8" and 3/8" holes were drilled for venting. It did not have vent holes originally. I think the blades were thinned also. I used it on a Triton TR 196 with a 200 Optimax when I took 2 buddies fishing. It was the best hole shot prop I used on that rig, especially with a full livewell, and it kept the boat on plane at slower speeds. I think is is probably comparable to a 22" - 23" Bravo. I never ran it WOT so I can't give you any information on speed.

All that said, your best and cheapest option might be a Chris Bailey foil. I was too hard headed to get one because I like props.

I have a 99 201 with a 200 Optimax. You shouldn't be getting that bad of a hole shot. I've done pretty well with a 23 and a 24 Bravo as well as a 23 Tempest. I don't have all the numbers in front of me but I know I had to be a little deeper than what people usually recommend. Top speed was never great. Always around 61, but hole shot is pretty snappy. I've wondered if mine isn't a little water logged as well because it has a terrible lean to the left, which I know is a thing with these models, but mine usually has it even worse than what others report.

So I guess I don't have any answers other than I agree about the 23 Bravo, and I don't think I would say you're underpowered with a 200 even though it probably came with a 225. You can find plenty of people that have a 200 on a 201 and do just fine.
