    Lake Erie Underrated Largemouth Fishery

Guys that come up to fish Lake Erie for smallmouth often don't realize what a great largemouth fishery it is too. If the wind blows bad there are plenty of places to dip the boat in backwater areas and nail some good bass. It's funny how many fisheries are known for catching one species, and yet another species overlooked. I can think of a lot of lakes like this.

Lot of guys had to fish it this year that went out of Sandusky Bay. Winds kept them off the big water. I think 2020 had the most tournments I can recall going out of there.

Largemouth Series does run tournaments out of West Harbor. I usually post results from them.

I’ll keep an eye out for them. Have a great season, be safe, and slip lots of drag along your way!

Partner and I won an largemouth only event that our local circuit scheduled on Sandusky Bay a few years ago. We had 15 pounds and must have caught 30+ fish that day.

Bingo! Just like there are smallmouth throughout the lake there are largemouth also. People just don't realize it or prefer to target smallmouth more often than not. Me included.
