I addition to my recently purchased '04 DFI 250 I also have a 98' 115 hp FastStrike. I was given a gallon of Amsoil HP 2 stroke oil and have added enough for 12 gal of gas to my boat. I have not run the boat yet, just have it ready for scalloping later in the week. I was told today by someone who claims to an outboard tech that running synthetic in my motor will not work causing typical non lubing problems. Any info on if he is factual or just full of crap?
I've used Amsoil for years. Haven't had ANY issues. Ran a '94 150 Rude on it for 9 or 10 years. Been running it in my '05 200 HO ETEC almost since day 1 (bought new in 2007).
I used it with the VRO and whatever they call it on the newer engines and have never premixed it. The Amsoil site says that it can be used as a premix. The Sabre oil is a 100:1 premix.
I wouldn't say that your mechanic is blowin' smoke (get it...blowin' smoke...), just telling ya what my experience has been. There has been mucho debate on this subject on this board. It seems everyone has a opinion or a story to tell. Including me...............
The Amsoil Sabre pre mix oil is designed more for small engines such as weedeaters,leaf blowers and chainsaws. Sabre is permixed with gas at 100:1 and ran in small engines that normally run on 40:1 or 50:1 mix
For a large motor such as a outboard motor, Amoil HP Injector is safe to run in a direct injection motor,EFI,carburated,premix or in a VRO tank. IF you run Amsoil in a boat motor as premix just mix to correct ratio like you would with any other oil.
Thanks for the info....... was hoping that was the case. I run it in my vehicles and it performs great.
