    Nice Hubbard Creek Hawg

We didn't put her on any scales, but she was a hawg. Caught her on a top water frog. The water boiled and she came out when I set the hook. I thought, "this is a pretty nice fish" when she jumped. Man did I ever underestimate her. I even lipped her because I didn't really know how big she was when she opened her mouth to jump again beside the boat.

What's sad is that before Ivie spoiled me, I would have been break dancing on the front deck and grabbing some scales with a hawg like that. After fishing Ivie so much, it's "just another nice fish".

Believe me, there is a good grass line down that stretch. Been some good fish pulled from it this year.

Re: Nice Hubbard Creek Hawg (TritonMan250)

I start every single tournament there. It's always good for one big hawg. I had just told my client (who was prefishing for a tournament) that he needed to throw a frog or fluke up there. I told him that there would be one or two over 7 up there in this one drain. I no more got the words out when she hit.

To be honest, we have no idea what she weighed. I know she was over 9, but didn't take the time to even evaluate her. She was probably over 10. I've caught so many double digit bass at Ivie this year that I don't pull the scales out any more unless I know that she might push 11 or 12. I had some clients a while back on Ivie when I had one right at 9 jump. One of them hollered that he would get the net. I said, "It's just a 9, I don't need a net". That's sad. I apologized to him, as that would be a monster for him.
