    Dead Bass

Lots of dead bass at the boat ramp at Hubbard Creek. Several 4-5lb fish and the biggest was about 7lbs..

I guess the tourney fishermen this weekend just couldn't keep their livewells cool enough..

Why don't you go over & post this on the TFF?

I heard the bridge ramp is closed. Might be looking to repair it while the water level is so low? Any news Mr. Jones?

Are they still holding 16 tx's a week there in all this heat and low water?

Yes, my wife and I put in around 3 pm Sunday just after a couple of tournaments ended and saw several fish floating. I know it happens but it is tough to look at.

Bridge ramp in closed and no repairs that I have heard of.

I would post it on TFF if I thought it would do any good but I know it won't. They don't live here, it ain't their home lake.

Had 3 tx's last weekend that I know of and 1 was a 2 day event. 1 I know of this coming weekend.

You would think they would have enough sence to lower the bag limits

I know some fish may die and there's nothing you can do about it, but to have that many, people need to learn how keep them alive and do it or not fish in this heat.

Either that or have a paper tourney or none at all in August, or anytime it's 107. Or keep the fish to eat, no excuse to let them waste like that.

Lake Alan Henry may have the best solution in their Tournament Rules ...

"Between the time period of July 1-September 1 each year, only paper tournaments will be allowed. Contact the City of Lubbock at 806.775.2673 for further information. Fish mortality increases tremendously during this time period due to increased water temperatures in holding tanks and live wells. This is a waste of precious resources."

    Re: Dead Bass (Stompy)

I was fishing hubbard creek in a tournament saturday and sunday. We had 2 die on us. One was hooked deep and bleed a lot... Another looked sick We saw swimming around the shallow water and threw to it and she hit. She had spots all over her. If It was not summer it would have weighed 10 plus but because of being sick it weighed 5.5 lbs. The head on that thing was big but was skinny. That was day one. The next day did not lose a fish. Both days we put ice and the livewell stuff in there. I ran recir. plus added new water when I thought it needed it. I do not know what else I could have done except not fish . I agree paper tournament.. It bothered me all day sunday thinking of losing fish.. I did see another tournament there and a guy brought in 4 dead out of his 5..
Maybe instead of 6-3 on saturday make it 6-noon.. sunday the time was from 6-1 and I think that helped not having them in the livewell as long.

We did give our fish to someone who wanted to eat them. They were catfish fishing..I also know of a couple keeping their fish that died..

Best thing is not to have event's in this hidious heat!
The mortality rate is too high, and our resources are being comprimised by tournament trails.......

The Texas Classic Bass Club of which I am the tournament chair has put a 3 fish per team limit during this intense heat to cut down on the number of fish potentially killed.

Bud Light Trail this coming weekend. They use a holding tank for the fish at weigh in. Hopefully this helps. They work very hard to keep their fish alive, but that heat does make a big difference.

Its funny when some of us post pictures of fish for the freezer them numbnut tx fisherman in the lounge have a walleye $hit fit, but this don't really stir anything up like that does. Go Figure. It does suck that some good fish at least could have been put in the freezer on that one Stomp, paper tournys should be the only allowed way right now, if not than at least let the fish be kept.......

I think Cork ought to go post up that cooler of bass in the lounge then and let em throw their fit then all of us go pounce on them ...

    Re: Dead Bass (jaybee193)

It is tournament fishing boys and girls. Get over it. Has been happening for years and we are still catching fish. Go figure. I do agree if they are dead at weighin the law says keep'm. I haven't had a dead fish in so long I can't remember the last dead one and, I tournament fish every month. Reggie caught 15 keeper sand bass lasy weekend and hauled them arounfd for 4 hours. None were even close to dead and a sand bass will die in the blink of an eye. It is all about your livewell system. Buy a Pro Air system for about 80.00 bucks and be done with it.
