Is this one of the year and HP Ficht engines to run away from? My first thought is to run from ALL Ficht engines, butt he boat it's on is in the price range of what I can afford to spend. I wish it had just about any other engine (excluding a Force) than a Ficht but...........

The 90 and 115HP Fichts are good engines, they performed as expected right out of the box, they do however still suffer from the Ficht name and as such, resale will suffer, do the usual checks and buy a V4 Ficht with confidence, take someone who knows these engines with you to test it.

noelm - I'd have the engine checked over at a dealer qualified to work on these engines. I know that I won't get a new engine on a $6K boat but I need to put the odds in my favor as best as I can!

As Nolem said, the V-4 Fichts were good engines and didn't suffer the same problems as the the small block V-6's.
