    Big Fire

Just SE of me. It's close enough that I can see the forest service helicopters from my porch. It's headed in my direction but I'm sure they will have it out long before it gets here. As a crow flys, it's about 6 miles from me. Not much wind here but I do have a hell of a plume of smoke over me.

Just got back from looking at it. Looks like it might have got a friends house and ranch. Right now it's about 5 miles away. Didn't see the forest service helicopter, hopefully they didn't pull out. News just said it's 10% contained.

    Re: Big Fire (rangerguy)

Right now it's in some pretty rough country with rocky hills and such. No way to get trucks up there. The 5 miles between here and there is pretty flat with lots of ranch roads. Hopefully they can stop it there before it gets here because my ranch is a little rough..

    Re: Big Fire (pYr8)

Still 5 miles away. Just got back from talking to a guy that talked to a fireman. The fire split, part of it is somewhat under control. The other is not. The wind shifted more out of the east, so for now, I appear to be safe.

    Re: Big Fire (Tx Champ)

It got so hot it punched a hole in the cap and I got rain for about 30 minutes. Not enough to help but I got rain because of a fire, weird huh. Everything outside is covered in ash...
