Question. Who keeps their boat in a garage that has a standard height seven or eight foot door?
I'm lookin at getting a metal boat shed put up on what used to be a concrete batting cage behind my shop, just for boat and mower storage. To get a 10' garage door I'd have go with 12' sides and I don't want to spend that much. Do you think an 8' high door would be ok?

Prolly so Cork, but is there that much difference in price? I think you would be happier with the taller building and door. I was glad I went to 16 ft, then it allowed me to have an upstairs storage room.
Last one, I could back in to my garage w/o issue, this one I have to tilt the motor down to back in.My storage facility is 12x30 with a 10x10 door. I agree with Chance, I think you'd appreciate the extra height.
big difference in price when yer talkin about a "carport" with sides and closed ends with garage doors. It's strictly for storage. This is not a red iron framed steel building. I have a 30X50 metal building.

I bet a 7' would do then. You measured how tall your motor is in trail position? One other thing about my garage is that the floor is about 4' above street level so I'm backing up an incline into the garage which probably compounds my issue. In fact, I may can back it in if I move to one side so I don't have that garage door opener arm hoochie kooter hanging down to run in to ...
Reggie, it will be similar to what I have @ T Bend (12x26), except this one will be 15x40 with a verticle panel gable roof, and horizontal panels on the sides. Garage doors in front and back, a walk door and 2 winders. You think I'd have to tilt my motor down to get under an 8' door??

a few and some folding wooden rules too, metal tapes were a no no around 12, 000 volts.
the boat is at the lake, go measure yers and let me know, but make sure you have the same air pressure in yer trailer tires as I run and yer axle height is the same

10' wide door is kinda tight ain't it Reg? My shop has a 12 wide in the front and 10 wide in the back. When I back it through the back door there ain't much room for error. I believe I'm gonna stick with a 12 wide on the front of this other shed.
I just ain't sure about the height of the door. All I need it to do is fit.

that explains it. You had me scratchin my head on that deal. A 3/4 ton pickup goes under a standard 7' garage door and I know yer outboard don't stck up higher than yer cab.Power pole fitting under there would be something else.
Skip is your garage door height 7 or 8 feet?

Nope, don't think so ... If you can stand flat footed and touch the top of the cowling at its highest point, I think you'd be good to go. My reach is a little above 7', the heel of my palm is even with the top of the door jamb at this hotel.

I just ain't sure about the height of the door. All I need it to do is fit.
My old one was 8' wide at the fenders, so I had a foot on each side. This one is a bit wider, but looks like I have 6-8" on each side when I back in. If you have width for a 12' door, that's what I'd do.
12' door will be a whole lot easier to back thru, my motor goes under my 8' door without being tilted down

Nope, just been out in it all day
After further thought, my storage has a 8' tall opening and I have no issue backing in on level ground. I can stand flat footed and almost touch it when it is rolled up all the way.

You want an 8' door 12' wide. A 10' wide would work but it will be a tight fit, only a foot on each side to play with. And if you ever decide to put a PP on your boat it will fit under an 8' door too.
