I had originally posted this question in the Champion forum, and they suggested I also post it here due to the question of RPMs. Does ChampioNman or anyone else know if running this prop is ok at these RPMs?
Thanks!
Guys, I"m looking for your opinions. I have a 1993 Champ 190DCX with a hydraulic jackplate powered by a rebuilt 1992 Johnson 3.0L Limited Edition 200. Before dinging up my prop, I was only getting 57-58mph with a 24"Raker at about 5500-5700 RPM. I sent the prop in to get repaired and the guy put extra cupping on it. The boat is now running around 59-62mph depending on the load but the RPMs have increased to 5800-6100, averaging around 5900-6000.
Questions: Are those RPMs still ok for that motor? What other prop do you recommend that may help get a little more speed?
I'm just not sure how much of a difference the prop will make on that old of a rig with an old and tired motor, but would like to find out.
Thoughts?
