Motorguide Xi5 80# 24v will not turn (directionally, the prop turns)

I bought my Xi5 in April and its been great to me! Recently i went out to the lake after a tournament the day before without plugging my batteries up over night like a dummy and my batteries died while i was using the trollign motor. Went home plugged up the charger thinking all would be ok. Wrong. Went to the lake a few days later and deployed the TM and it turns on like normal but will not turn in either direction via footpedal or remote. Prop will run through all speeds. Thinking the voltage drop that occured when my batteries died probably smoked the board ... correct me if im wrong. Thanks guys

What happens if you steer with your hand some then try to steer it correctly?

If i turn it with my hand in the direction I'm pressing the arrow it feels like its trying a little bit but will not turn on its own.
