Fishin Hot Spots, Lake maps, Navionics Etc

How many of you use one of these products?

If you have used more than one of these products which one do you prefer?

Do you use it strictly for navigation or do they also indicate historical submerged structure and other fishing helpful info.

    Thanks in advance

I've used them all i think........

My new Lowrance's have Insight, and I the Navionics chip as well.
Hot Spots are great for some lakes as well. There's no one product that has the best of all maps, IMO

Re: Fishin Hot Spots, Lake maps, Navionics Etc (Bobs21X)

    Thanks Bobby

I have been researching this topic and it seems some like the older versions and some like newer. I had no idea there were so many choices to have to make.
I was thnking about picking up the Fishing hot spots casue it was cheaper and supposedly available at Academy.
I know I want something with more detail than the basemap that is currently loaded on my Lowrance Elite 5

I had a 2006 Navi Premium South and it was great. I bought a 2009 Navi Premium South because it had more lakes. I sold the 06 chip and I think it was a big mistake. The contour lines on the 09 don't show as well as the 06. Especially when you zoom in. Is it just me or is this the norm?

Re: Fishin Hot Spots, Lake maps, Navionics Etc (WB)

The problem I found with the Navionics for T Bend is that they advertise the chip as HD, and that is wacked to begin with because HD as we think of it is not what it means in the map chips. They consider HD as viewing the lake with 1' contours, and trust me I have "discussed" this with Navionics What they claim as a chip with 1' contours is ONLY the areas of the lake they have surveyed. And that just happens to be NOT ALL 825,000 surface acres of water which encompasses T Bend, basically meaning not ALL of the lake is covered in the 1' contours, in fact a damn good portion of T Bend is not covered. I understand that it would be quite a feat to map that much area, but my bitch to them was "don't advertise the lake to be in 1' contours if it ain't". A LOT of the places GB and I fish do not show the 1' contours. So in my simple ass minded way of thinkin, I paid for something that really ain't so. On the other hand, is there a better map chip for T Bend? Prolly not. We can discuss more bout it around the campfire .
Craig I honestly could not tell any difference between the 06 chip and the 08 that I currently have. Only reason I have the 08 is because they got tired of hearing me bitch about their product. I also verified some boat lanes that are NOT MARKED right.

Russ, look this over, this is what I have. I searched a little but I'll let you take over, you poke around and may be able to find more info.
This is what is on the chip and it's in a yellow waterproof case bout 2" square.
Can't find the paperwork(cardboard package) for it, may be at the lake.
