Boat Having Trouble Getting Up on Plane (Need Input)

I have a 1998 Ranger Comanche 519DVS with a 225 HP Mercury Mariner on the back and am having trouble getting it up on plane. I just put on two 12 foot Minn Kota Talons and added 2 batteries in the back (it's got a lot of weight back there) and whenever I go to take off the bow will raise up, start planing out and then pretty much get stuck angled upwards and the RPMs shoot way up but it doesn't get me up on plane for at least 5-10 seconds and sometimes takes a little milking of the gas pedal to even get up. Just wondering if it could be that it needs a different prop or something, I know it's not the hub as it just had a new lower unit put on not to long ago and I have had a spun hub before. Just looking for a little input on this! Thanks!

Your motor is trying to do what it was designed to do, push the boat. You have added a bunch of weight now the prop is losing it's bite and causing rpm's to go up on take off. Either your engine is too high or more than likely your prop just needs different venting because to much exhaust gas is getting around the blades and causing slip. From reading your post looks like your prop does not have adjustable venting as do the Mercury Plus props, i.e. Tempest Plus. These props allow you to change the size of plugs to fine tune the venting of the exhaust that gets around the ears as the prop spins. If you are running a Mercury Trophy prop you can sometimes correct this problem with an exhaust ring.
