    Lake Fork Guide

My dad and I are looking to drive down from Nebraska and visit my Aunt in February or March. She lives in Dallas and since that is only 2 hours from Lake Fork we are starting to look up guide services.

Anyone recomend a good one, and which month should we come down?

    Thanks,

Google Lake Fork and you will find a wealth of information.
Although, some here can recommend guides. Depending on weather, Spawn should be on middle of Feb. through March depends on the area of lake ie. (deep, shallow, etc.)
Might mention some guides excel in various types of fishing so you might chose one that has expertise in the type you like to do or want to get better at doing.

I have used Loomis guide service several times. Rick Loomis uses several great guides. He has nice lodgeing to offer also. The first time I ever fished fork was about 10 years ago on Febuary 28th. While the bites were few they were quality mostly I caught 5 that were all around 5 lbs. Spent all day flipping trees and lay downs in 3 - 10 feet deep. I have fished every year since in late march or Early April only because I enjoy fish hunting or site fishing. Fished a skeeter event in midd summer thats a very bad time to go. very hot. Fished one year on July 4 week end - Won't do that again. To Hot. Spring break (mid March) is good not many bed fish but my boy picked em off from the back of the boat with a watermellon red lizard. Hope this helps. Spawn is a great time to fish Fork. The only draw back is the number of boats. I have had boats approach with in 10 feet while I was anchored and fishing. Be patient you can't fix stupid. Caution the area around lake fork has experianced high crime rates. The hotel I stayed at last year had several coustomers that got there boats broke into several nights.

Tom Redington is one of the best and is a BBC member. His site is http://www.lakeforkguidetrips.com and I promise you he will put you on them. If he is booked I would look at Jason Hoffman, John Tanner, James Caldemayer, Justin Rackley, and Lance Vick in no particular order. These guys stay booked for a reason. I would come down in late February. With the low water we are having the staging fish will be much easier to locate and you will boat some toads without fighting the spring crowds.
