Kelly, what were the issues...oil or fuel related, over heat, etc...........G
First time was a clogged injector on #6 cylinder. Not sure what it was this time, have yet to get it back to be looked at. I was still doing the recommended break in just getting over the 5000 rpm stage.

Have your dealer check the fuel system with the new BRP tool.

Was it water in the gas or debris that clogged the injector the first time?
Was that problem resolved before running the boat with the new powerhead?

Debris. New injector installed, and we also added in another fuel filter in addition to the one already there.

I hope the lines, the VST filter, and the remaining 5 injectors were taken out and cleaned before running the new powerhead, other wise debris in one of the other injectors could be at fault this time. It was nice of Evinrude to give you a new powerhead when the cause was fuel contamination.

Kelly,
I have blown #6 twice. The second time was after 2.6 hours on the motor following 2 1/2 mos of downtime. 2nd wide open burst equaled pop. New powerhead as well. I feel your pain since the middle of December. Scott is the best though. Wish I could use him. Adam

Who remanufactured the powerhead? Evinrude does not do that, but some repair companies might.
So the remanufacturer is covering the warranty, not Evinrude - right?

Just to make you feel better,I had both my 2006,200 ho,s,blow on me....
Never really found out why the first one went(1400hrs)....did have injector issues....
Ssecond one went after that when something broke under the cowling letting water squirt all over while running.....did not know anything, until after taking cowling off,and water everywhere....think it shorted the computer......
Had 2 rebuilt powerheads,from a certain company,that supplies rebuilds for BRP,after extended warranties.......over 200 hrs on both,and never a hicup...
To me they are as good as new, with low hrs.

"Injector Debris"???? Understand fuel seperation, water contamination, problems with low ocatane and such that contaminate fuel but they don't leave debris in a fuel injector do they. So are we saying Evinrude's own 10 micron internal filter/water sep. is not fine enough to properly protect Evinrude's engines from debris because it does not filter fine' enough from the fuel?
Some 'debris' passed along from the many gas stations tanks supplying the fuels we buy from is normal and is just a fact of life.

saltwater crystals, varnish deposits and particles from electric fuel pumps are considered debris also.
