    Remembering those who gave all

I am an American fighting man. I have served my country with honor and with pride. I gave. But some gave all and this weekend is the weekend we remember them. The war I fought in was many years ago in a country called Vietnam. I was a professional soldier but my carrier was cut short by that war. I made it back home. During my time in the Army I made many very good friends and many of them gave thier all in Vietnam. They didn't make it home alive. All weekend I will remember those guy's. I will think of the times we shared with others, the things that make me laugh, the good times we all had along the way. I will remember thier families, wifes and kids. Those wifes and kids that were left to live life without a husband are father. I will remember the feeling we all shared. They all also served with honor and pride. I will never forget thier sacrifice and will remember it untill my last day here. At the end of this weekend and my reminessing I will say a prayer for those I knew and served with. Martha always spends this weekend and veterans with me. She has never wavered from that and I truely thank her for being there on those days. I ask nothing from anyone for what I have done. I did it because it was my duty. I do want to think each of you here for being my friend and I think you for the time we all share together. To my lost comrades I salute you.

Well said, Skip, thank you for your service to our Great Nation!! it's been over 40 years, and the guys I served with are still some of my best friends and comrades!! I salute all who have fallen in the line of duty, those who are living with the pain and injuries suffered, the current servicemen who are sacrificing today and all those vets who sacrificed so much to preserve our country and freedoms in the past.

Well spoken Skipper. I remeberthe days as well with good friends and the memories with them as well. It gets hard at times especially knowing that I coulda been one of them. I give thanks for the past Vets because if it wasn't for you guys we would not have what we have today. You guys delt with the roughest of times and gear and vehicles. Hats off to you guys and many prayers as well and many more for our current troops and more for the future troops that will take over and defend this great country as we enjoy our fishing and talk withnour buddies

Thanks Skip, if only a greater number of today's generation knew the true meaning of Memorial Day. Special prayers and thanks to my fellow veterans.

To all Veterans, those that have served and continue to serve only know just how difficult it is to flash back and remember our friends that have made the ultimate sacrifice. I have lost too many good friends in during my service and I am sure that the feelings Skip describes get any easier to deal with. I remember telling one of my old Senior Scouts, who was at that time a Platoon sergeant, right before he went out on patrol to be careful and keep his boys safe. He said, I got you Big Dawg see ya in a bit. He was killed that afternoon by a sniper. Absolutely, One of the hardest days I had to deal with in my life.

this is corkpullers wife and I have to salute you and your fellow comrades. THANK YOU! I can't begin to say what I feel about all Americans that have put their life on the line for me! I am nothing compared to what we, I'm sure, lost in the many wars that have occurred in my lifetime. I was young during Vietnam, kinda on the cusp of growing up, but old enough to be...afraid, I guess. I knew there was turmoil, death and protest, but I was old enough to realize the life loss. Thank you for being there for me.
