HELP : Exhaust back pressure sensor stuck and broken on Ficht 175

    Hi everyone,

I tried to change the exhaust pressure sensor of my 2000 ficht 175 (E175FPXSSV). Unfortunately the little tube of the sensor broke and stayed stuck in the motor. There is a lot of carbon around it and that's why it broke when I unscrewed the sensor.

I tried to pull it but it is completely stucked and I worry about pulling too hard and explode something. I also tried to spray carbon cleaner but that didn't work.

Can I use a drill to clean the place (and destroy the tube in the meantime)? Is it a problem i some pieces of metal coming from the remaining part of the sensor drop in the exhaust?

I also notice that there is a mounting symetric hole also on the port side where the sensor can be placed (there is only a screw to remove). Can I place the sensor here if I fail to clean the normal starboard place?

    Waiting anxiously for your advices....

    Fred

Try drilling the tube out in very small steps, use a lot of drill bits to keep one from biting in and allowing the broken tube to spin. There is not enough room behind it to hammer it through or you would have to remove the powerhead to cut it out.

Once it's drilled out, clean out all the carbon in the passageway. A steel-bristle valve guide brush works very well.

Now you see why it should be removed, cleaned, and inspected every 100 hours, yet lots of mechanics and DIY types don't.

Thanks a lot for your answer. It's good to get advice from skilled people!!

Is it a problem if some parts of the broken tube fall down in the exhaust? Because I'm afraid drilling will cause the tube explosion.

No problem, the drilling chips will get blown out the prop. Now if you break off a large piece, then pull the prop and see if you can fish it out.
