Ralph, sorry it's just heavy on my mind(long story)

My neighbor at T Bend, Ralph. Ralph is prolly between 65 and 70 yrs old. Ralph fishes EVERY day, Ralph opens the Lowes Creek Campground Office/Store EVERY morning before the Park Owners get up. Fires up the coffee for any and all. The Park Owners get there and Ralph goes fishin..EVERY day. He comes in between 10 and 12 and typically mixes himself a toddy or two, then returns to the office, most times with some cold beers in a sack on his golf cart to play dominoes or cards around 2pm with the other "regulars". He comes home after that, eats a bite and goes to bed. Repeat the next day. Has done this for many years. Super nice guy, very laid back, just loves to fish, don't want nuttin from nobody, just to get up another day and fish. A few months ago Ralph was diagnosed with lung cancer. He started the chemo and we all hoped for the best. I talked with him as we were crossing paths at the boat ramp this Spring just a few weeks ago. Ralph is now in the hospital in Houston with a good chance he won't come out from what I was told yesterday.
I have only known him for about 3 yrs, but we had some great conversations and fished together a few times. It just hurts my heart to think he has run out of line. I look over there at his boat and pickup hooked up and they ain't moved for several weeks. An empty feeling. I pray he can make it back to the lake.

I know what your feeling Corky, I`m going to a funeral tomorrow for one of the regulars here at our campground. Jr has lived with us for 15 years, came to the store every day 3 times a day for breakfast, lunch and the at 4:00 for coffee. He became part of the family. He was 82 years old. He and I picked at each other all the time and he kind of took the place of my dad after he passed away two years ago. Two weeks ago he fell and broke his hip and never could recover from complication s of the surgery. It will be a hard day tomorrow.

I don't know Ralph personally. But I will say a prayer for him. Hopefully he will be back on the water and fishing once again. I too just lost a dear friend to lung cancer. He fought it and was positive about being able to wet a hook until the very end. Troy if you get a chance to visit Ralph please do so. It will mean so much to Ralph and to you.

Kinda of in the same boat with my mom, she has been suffering with Alzhiemers for 4 years now. She has no idea who i am most of the time and doesnt know whats going on around her. I am trying to prepare myself for the day that she passes and hope that I can take it well.

God Bless all of you guys and gals and your family's and friends

Jerry so sorry to hear of your loss also. I think I know the fellow you speak of. Dear friends are hard to come by and harder to let go.

Jerry, I'll be thinkin of you tomorrow, that's a tuff lick I know.

Like my Grandpa told me, "time waits on no one, make the most of your time"

Me..of all people hate to bring up a downer for everyone, I lost my Dad 15 days after I turned 16, that will harden a fella for sure let me tell you, but it's obvious we all have similar trials and tribulations as well as feelings toward one another and most especially those who impact us most, be it family or not. We are all family so to speak, whether we are pokin fun or wishin each other the best in life. Hard as it is some days, I remind y'all to enjoy each day, no one is responsible for your happiness but you, and it takes less muscles to smile than to frown.

My prayers are with you both. I heard about JR this weekend Jerry. He was a very nice man. Susan and I sat at a table next to him for many meals in the last few years. He will be missed dearly by all.
