I will be in Irving all next week for some training. Is there any decent eateries around that area? Maybe something local that's not a big chain restaurant. I wish I had time to bring a pole or two and find a mud-hole. Thanks guys.

Lots of good stuff but you really need to get to Po' Melvins at Beltline and Walnut Hill. Southern style cooking from a native New Orleanean...or how-ever that would be spelled.

It looks like I will be staying on Walnut Hill Lane. I will be right off John W Carpenter Fwy and south of Pres George Bush Turnpike. It looks like there is a wad of hotels in the area. The hotel is a Marriott Towneplace. It says Dallas Las Collinas but the address is Irving. Thanks for the help guys.

All kind of places on North MacArthur near where you are staying. There's a Keg Steakhouse at Hwy 114 (John Carpenter Freeway) & MacArthur also that's good, and very close to where you are staying. The guys are steering you right - Poor Melvin's is the place to go for good down home cookin'.

I have an office at DFW Airport, been there for 12 years now, and been eating at Mel's at least once every two weeks for that long. Used to go once or twice a week for a while but gained to much to wear my raingear....

I am headed out Monday and gonna try a different spot every night. Thank goodness for per diem. I'm gonna try and hit up Bass Pro while I am down there too. Too bad I can't use the company credit card in there. I miss having one close from when I was living in Nashville, TN.
