    Just finished mowin grass!!!

Well kinda, actually just finished mowin weeds, mud, craw dad mounds, and a bit of grass. Couldn't stand it any longer, the yard is always a disaster this time of year.

Re: Just finished mowin grass!!! (stealthwave)

I'm a little surprised I don't have back problems. All those years hanging 5/8 sheetrock and hanging those 8' and 9' commercial doors I only managed to blow out both shoulders. Got them both fixed a few years back, their a lot better but not 100%...

I have mowed "green" St Augustine at Christmas some years. I put out Winter weed herbicide some years and some years I don't, I've noticed it don't seem to make a big difference. If I had a small "lawn" it would be a horse of a different color, but an acre is too much to pamper, it gets itself squared away every year, it's just this time of year the weeds grow more than the grass. Dollarweed, chickweed, thistle / dandelions.

I've never had any luck with pre emergent either. Tried it a couple of years and didn't seem to do any good.

It would cost me a small fortune. I / we have always kept a very manicured and landscaped place. After 20 years the live oaks in the front have put a major hurt on any grass growin under them. I used to have a sayin that in the front we raised grass and in the back we raised kids. I am dang near burnt out on takin care of it all and my bride does way more than you would think. I just don't think I could hang livin in a "neighborhood" where the houses are right next to each other though. Too hard headed to pay anybody to maintain it........so far....

Enjoy it early in the spring, but it gets old real quick. I know what you mean about being to TIGHT to pay someone to maintain it. That is what you said isn't it?
