The G2N models are discontinued 2017/2018 year models. They have standard 83/200 kHz 2D sonar.
The G3N models are 2019 models. They have standard HW CHIRP 2D sonar and more power in the Imaging models=+in their model names.
The exception is the special run G2N models made in 2019 for the Black Friday sales at Bass Pro and Cabelas and are called HW PROMO models.
They have standard HW CHIRP 2D sonar, but not the extra power of the G3N's. Those were priced about at the same level as the close-out sale of the discontinued G2N's.
In the Imaging models, all have three Imaging frequencies= 455/800/1200 kHz single frequency or Chirped.
"Worth the extra money?" has to be determined by you. Old stuff or current stuff.
If your future plan includes a MEGA 360, it has to be a G3N DI+ or SI+ model Helix or G2 SOLIX
