    Just when everthing is lovely

got a call at work from my son, his pickup is broke down on the side of the road. Said it started shakin real bad so he pulled it over and when he cranks it the engine shakes. Damn rice burner Got a wrecker on the way to haul it to my buddy's house. I know there are way worse problems but I certainly don't need any major vehicle problems.

Is the engine turning over? What about broken motor mounts?

anything possible I suppose, I'm at work so it's hard to say from here. It would be real handy if something electrical came disconnected.

I bought my girl a car, went over all the details with her (twice). Told her if it ever broke down it's on her, I will NOT pay for ANY repairs.

I bought all my own vehicles and took care of them, the least they can do is maintain them and repair them when needed.

    THE END

Re: Just when everthing is lovely (LuckyMesscun)

My Dad didn't have money when I was a kid, I was the youngest of 3 and watched the older 2 ask for things, the sadness in his eyes when he said he just couldn't afford it stuck with me. I remember this from the age of 8, the other 2 never stopped asking and never saw that look in his face. I never asked for anything, I worked and saved and bought what I wanted.
Dad is long gone but my Mother still has to deal with the older 2 asking for money. Before Dad passed he put me in charge of what little money Mom has, they don't get a penny and I make sure of it.
Good life lesson for me I think, Loved my Dad very much. Never wanted to see that disappointment in his face caused by me. Don't believe I ever did.

Hope you were smart enough to pass this attitude along to your own kid(s)....sounds like you were.
I sort of take the same attitude. My folks are getting on up there in age and have PLENTY. But, let me let you know, I know THEY have earned it & ain't 1 penny of that guaranteed to be mine. Hopefully so, but I expect nothing.

Derek, put two Viagra in the crankcase and it will take care of any bent valve.
