I am considering a boat rigged with the above motor but not familiar with this model. I am interested in opinions on the motor, good, bad or indifferent. 149 hours on it and owner says it 'runs great.' Thanks.

Do a search here for FICHT motors you'll get your answer.

yea man run away![]()
I'm gunna stick my neck out a little here.... The 150-175's I would steer clear of thru the 01 models. The big block 3.3 litres are good strong engines, BUT...like any FFI engine needs proper care, and correct rigging in the beginning with a good tech.......A used engine is, just that, used. We know little of the previous care, But with a good tech that is on your side, can and WILL, weigh the options highly in your favor. Guys, it isn't the engine, per se, it's how it was rigged and taken care of by the original owner and tech, I TRULY BELIEVE THIS!!! I've got friends running 98-99 150's hard and still running strong. I've got friends running the 200-225 2000-2001 models like they have warranty on 'em. JMHO
That said, if I was looking at a rig with a small block engine....150-175, I would have to price it with the hull, trailer and all electronics.....they'll have to eat the engine, then you could afford to repower if necessary... The big blocks, if it met my, and a good techs criteria, and price is right![]()
Thanks for all the feedback. It looks like I'll pass on this deal.
