We watch “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” on Wednesday night before Thanksgiving.
Eat too much, watch football, play 31 for dimes, then all my cousins and I would load in the cars and go bowling in the evening but we all moved away from home, got married, had kids, etc...
Now with my own family we still eat too much, watch football, then play some board or card games. Black Friday is the day the x-mas stuff goes up, my boys all help with it.
On Black Friday afternoon we all go to my Mom's Church put up the Nativity Set that her Aunt left the church 20 years ago..
After my mom died, my brother and his wife had Thanksgiving dinner at their house. After the table was cleared, everyone signed the tablecloth with a permanent marker. Each year was signed in a designated area. We had 44 years of signatures before my brother passed away
Being a Lions fan, Thanksgiving tradition has always been football. When I lived in Michigan I had went to many Thanksgiving games at the Pontiac Silverdome. Football is still a big part of it and we get all our Lions gear on and watch them lose and we eat a lot. Family time and football

Thanksgiving is my favorite weekend of the year.
Thursday - obviously the food, time with family, and watching the cowboys play.
Friday - hunting all day.
Saturday - fishing all day.
Sunday - church, then go get the Christmas tree and put it up.
This year might be a little different though, as we are living with my mom while our house is being built. And our 2 year old has had a really bad fever the past couple of days.

Used to go rabbit hunting Thursday and Friday with my dad, uncle, grandpa and his brothers and their uncles in the mornings. Home for dinner, then Friday after hunting pots of burgoo on fires and all the men sat around telling stories and visiting until time to eat.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
Some of the guys go Turkey hunting in the morning, all of us go to camp and drink beer and then show up late to Thanksgiving dinner.![]()
Always watch the Lions game at my Moms house, my step dad is a huge Lions fan. I always root for them unless they are playing the Vikings. I think I feel sorry for that team honestly. I know the Vikings aren’t that good but dam the Lions always suck. My Mom makes appetizers my favorite is rumaki, only time of the year I ever eat it. I’m usually stuffed before we even sit down to eat but I still manage to stuff more food down.
Wake up, get into the "pops" in preparation for the my Lions. Watch the Lions invent a new way to loose in which no other team in professional sports is capable of loosing. Proceed to sink into a slight depression, before getting back into the "pops" so I can cope with what I've just watched.
Once slight depression has worn off, proceed with the remainder of the Thanksgiving festivities. It always use to be my tradition to fish in the morning, but since I've moved further North that's no longer possible. LOVE T-Day!
Usually hunting something, this year taking 2 grandsons deer hunting and then be back in for dinner around 2. Back out for the afternoon hunt.
In my younger days, we always had a touch football game before dinner. We had the field marked off and those not playing were cheer leaders for the rest.
No real traditions per se, anymore, since my folks, aunt and uncle, and brother passed. But we have established a new tradition I guess, we go to one of my daughter's house for Thanksgiving with what is left of my family. We've done that for the past few years. I truly enjoy seeing my daughters, their spouses and my grandkids. All in all, I just don't like the holiday season though.

Of course I talk to myself...sometimes I need expert advice.
Try to be all inclusive. Both my daughters come to dinner at our place along with my GFs son and his family. My oldest daughter brings my 2 grandson's, her husband, and his mom . Any event that we sponsor that includes my kids also includes their mom. My ex and her steady were always invited to our place on any holiday we hosted. This year she is bringing her mother with her having split with her guy friend. She is close to 90 and in a rehab facility close by so we included her. My GFs ex was included in any holiday which his kids were present at also before he passed away. We all get along for the kids and grandkids behalf.
Last few years I have made targets for everyone to come out and shoot with pellet rifles around a nice roaring fire
Keeps everyone from killing each other 30 minutes after dinner
We have a family desert bake-off with all year bragging rights for the winner. My apple pie as been a winner many times and everyone in the family wants my recipe, which I will not give up.... Going home now to try to avoid the mad rush in the kitchen, start taking pictures and sending them to family with trash talk texts. Grown ups, kids, everyone is invited to place a desert on the table but must be homemade by the participant... Let the games begin. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I spend time thanking the Lord for my children and grand kids/ my wife and me life. Oh and my 190dcx Champ.
