IMO do the decarb before storage, to get all the crap out before she sits for a while.
I am by no means an expert - but if you are only using XD100 - not sure I see the point of decarbing. Maybe the guru's will be around in a bit and can clarify.

If you run XD-100 no need to decarb, I would change the fuel filter and l/u oil and clean the exhaust pressure sensor.
I'd run a can of fogging oil through it if you are putting it to sleep for the winter.
decarb then fog in the fall, fire it up for a day in the spring then put new plugs in
