    Johnson 150 FS fuel pump

I have a 91 John 150 Faststrike. I have a weak fuel pump and I have heard (not sure where from) that if I mix the 2 stroke oil in the gastank I can use the VRO side of the pump as my fuel pump. If someone can point me in the right direction I would much appreciate it. Sorry if this topic has been discussed previously

Re: Johnson 150 FS fuel pump (fishboy7504)

I just went through the same thing on my 91 150 faststrike. My mech plugged off the oil line where it enters the motor and on the motor side and unplugged the sensors and that was it. I ran it for a week and my fuel pump side went bad. I installed an electric inline fuel pump that is what he suggested. It worked fine but still working out bugs. A new vro pump is about 400$ and an electric pump is about 50$ and a rebuild kit is about 135$.
Please Lord, let this fish stay on!!

So you think my best option would be to scratch the OEM fuel/VRO pump and go with an electric unit? My biggest concern was the difference in operating pressures of the two. More on the fuel side than the VRO side or vice versa

Is the electric fuel pump USCG approved? You have an emergency cut off? Is it properly regulated to provide the proper pressure to the fuel system?
