Lost GPS function on Motorguide Xi5

Have had unit nearly three years. Runs on NMEA 2000, connected to Gen3-9 (bow), Gen2 Touch (console), Gen 1-5 (dash), Point One.

    • Blue GPS light comes on when TM is dropped; immediately goes away.
    • Does not respond to remote commands
    • Lowrance units show “No Autopilot Computer"
    • Checked wiring inside TM; all appears OK
    • Checked NMEA drops; all appear fine

Got no help from Motorguide customer service rep. After describing symptoms, his lazy response was “There’s no way to know without troubleshooting” with no offer to discuss steps entailed.

Hoping someone here has ideas, since I already had to replace the damned Pinpoint module ($400+) between years one and two because the wiring pulled loose. I did upgrade recently to the Gen2 Touch at console, from a Gen2 non-touch, but that's the only config change I've made.

    Thanks.

You could try a manual reset of the min board. I believe you plug it in, then remove just the negative lead for about 30 seconds then re-connect.

I had a similar problem, that fixed it.

If you updated your head units, it may also help to make sure you start everything up in a sequence. It has helped a number of people with some issues. Mainly, before turning on any of the head units or NMEA network, turn on/plug in the TM and see if it gets a GPS signal and holds it before turning anything else on. If that works, then turn on NMEA, Point-1, head units.

Hopefully some of that will work. Otherwise, it is probably the GPS board again. One easy think to check as well, make sure your have good batteries in your remote.

Try using the motor completely disconnected from the lowrance units. If it works then the problem is in your set up. If it doesn't work then the problem is with the motor.
