I have a 2001 Evinrude Ficht ram, the last couple of times I've been out my alarm goes off. It's one long tone, about 60 seconds. It doesn't do it all the time, even when it does most of the time the check engine light goes off without shutting the boat down. Don't know if any body has any idea, but not many Evinrude shops around here, mostly mer. Model # RE225FHSIF Serial # G04918970.
You are going to have to have it hooked up to the diagnostic tool and retrieve the code. Short of that the only thing you could do is remove the fuel filter and check for water.

Are you sure the horn stays on for 60 seconds? If so, you may have a bad gauge.
The horn should sound for only about 10 seconds and that is handled by the SystemCheck gauge with its internal electronics.
The CHECK ENGINE light can mean any number of things so the error codes have to be read on the diagnostic software.

I have a 2001 FICHT 225 E225FHLSIF and Im having the same issue.
The engine light comes on every 4th or 5th time I use it. I think its gone and then its back. I hooked it up to the computer and it showed a voltage problem. I tightend up the cables and it fixed it for a while. now its back. Nothing slows down or seems to be causing any problems.
Im replacing the fule manifold today to see if it was a fuel restriction issue.
Ill let you know.

finally broke down and ordered the program to check codes, had hard time finding adapter for serial port to usb, got it to work long enough to pull fault codes, said battery volts where too high. can't get it work again, but at least I know what the alarm was for.
For future reference, I just bought a USB to serial port adapter on ebay. $3.99 includes shipping. Plenty like that. I'm going to order the diagnostic software next. Good luck on your issue.
I have an 01 that was doing the samething, took it in and they said too much voltage to the motor. All I did was un-hook my battery charger from the crankin battery when I charged my batteries and that has worked well. Hope this helps.
