    Best finesse baitcaster 1/16-1/10 Ned

Looking for best reels that you can use with very light finesse lures like 1/16-1/10pz Ned.

The best reels for finesse baits would be a spinning reel but I know that’s not what you’re looking for

ALX Speedfury w/ Diawa tatula sv tw is what I use, and it works well.

My two go to baitcast reels are a Daiwa PX Type R with a DIY shallow ported spool and my stock Shimano Conquest BFS.

I throw plenty of light shaky heads with a Daiwa Steez SV TW and zillion SV TW, works just fine but not budget friendly. Don’t know why you can’t use it for a Ned. As others have said it’s a spinning tactic but some days you just don’t want to....

I have been using a modded Daiwa Pixy and a Phenix Feather 7’1 Light. I run 6# line usually use a 1/10 oz head and TRD. I can cast that bait a very long ways

I use a Shimano 100B, modified with a japanese aftermarket spool and hedgehog bearings. Paired with a St Croix 7'6' Medium light, moderate action saltwater rod. Throws a Ned as far as any spinning rod I have.

I asked myself this same question and found that my best options for <$300 were an Alderbaran 30 and the Alpha SV. I saw the Alderbaran go for $212 on Ebay last week. I'm jumping on the next one I see.

Shimano Scorpion BFS paired with a Phenix Feather Med Lt rod does the job for me. Granted, the Shimano Scorpion BFS is a bit pricey & delivery takes a while since it's coming from Japan, but a great setup IMO.

OK, so you can do it. Why would you want to?

You gonna put 17# line on ned rig?

Daiwa steez sv with 6# test and a Phenix Feather med lt rod will launch a 1/10 ned rig....thats the exact size I use. I also have honeycomb spools that work very well but the stock steez spool works just fine.

The Abu Garcia AL-F is a very nice, lightweight, finesse reel. It's much improved over the previous ALX.

Huh? We're talking shallow spools with light line.

1/16 plus a small chunk of plastic is pretty light. If you don't have the right rod, it doesn't really matter. The rod has to be able to load with that light of a presentation. In my experience, after market / non stock spools are going to offer the greatest performance. If you only want to acquire a reel in stock form, I would suggest the Daiwa Alphas CT SV 70, or the Alphas Air.

I fish baitcasters for everything too. I have both Lews Tournament Pro and Quantum Smoke reels. I found the rod to be a bigger influence on the lighter lures. A 7 to 7-6 medium-light moderate gave the best results with any reel. I do like the "click" on the Lews adjustment. Let's me know exactly where I am at.
