Had the prop been thinned or worked?

    What boat was this on?

Who told you BRP would not cover it?

Why did BRP say no, what reason did they give?

What reason did Jeff Cooper give that they would not cover it?

Tell your brother if he would be nice, we would like to have him here too, even if he does run a Yammy.

Re: high speed come apart (msheffer)

The Problem is that the bolt holes still had the threads in them, this would indicate that the bolts came loose or were left loose.

The final decision rests with the warranty department at BRP.

Wish I could offer more help.

Re: high speed come apart (RUSTY63)

i even questioned the dealer who installed the first lower unit maybe he didnt tighten things down properly jeff cooper said not possible he was a great mechanic i like the mechanic but the best in the world make mistakes what i have told you is the facts what is your opinion should they cover or not cover i have ask boat owners at the bfl tour over the weekend they say to get a lawyer if you work at riverside marine the boat originally came from there( Keith Whitley) i agree its in thier( brp) decision but i have to disagree with thier theory do you think the vibration from the prop blade being gone could loosen the bolts

Re: high speed come apart (msheffer)

My opinion will not matter on the decision made by BRP.

It sucks to have a broke motor for sure, there are other avenues you could choose to maybe get some resolve in this matter, I don't think a Lawyer would be the one I would choose.

    I work for Riverside Marine.

still like to know what your opinion what other avenues i have a sister inlaw whos a lawyer and it does suck to be broke down 2nd day of everstart limit at 7:30 broke down at 8:00 knowing you can catch enough to make top 10 cut but not with just trolling motor insurance will cover but rates go up 7 yr warranty no good if not willing to cover someone at fault dont feel like its me but i maybe the one paying in longrun

Please don't take offense but, I only have one side of the story, and based on that, I will keep my opinion to myself.

The other avenues, you could write a letter to BRP showing your displeasure with the decision.

Re: high speed come apart (msheffer)

what happened first, prop blade or lower unit?? this is an interesting case here. If I read the thread right, you had a Lower unit fail, and they replaced it with a new one. this all happened on the second one. Blades have come off props before, do they always wipe out everything?? If this was new, I would imagine this would be covered. before a lawyer, Go through dealer who installed it. take pictures, second opinion etc. save all receipts. Get on the phone, call everyone you can.
hope it all works out, sounds like a hammerin' boat, stratos 200 with a 225 ho, man... good luck..

Hey guys...Have you thought that possibly someone was was out to sabatoge your brothers tournament finish???? I ran into a guy that had his trolling motor prop beaten off just because he was catching fish during a two or three day tourney....It sure is a way to keep you off of fish!!! It might not have been the mechanic that screwed up maybe a low life CHEATING competitor it's happened before and I am sure soem idiot out there will do it again if they feel threatened by a good fishermen!!!! Just my two cents worth!!!
Sorry you feel this way about an unknown failure...

Are you "sure" you didn't whack a rock pile up there? KY lake is full of them, and this may be a reason why BRP won't warranty your claim.

Re: high speed come apart (ChampioNman)

My dad had a new lower unit put on his Johnson and the first time he ran it with the new lower unit it went out. Found out the mechanic who put it on forgot to tighten the bolts. My dad had to buy another lower unit but did not have to pay for the labor.

Re: high speed come apart (ChampioNman)

If that was the case, that is what evinrude should have said. They did not . They said they wouldn't warrenty it because someone had tried to steal his lowerunit plane and simple.Where the bolts losened? By my estimation, he had already ran between 15 to 20 miles that morning. Would the unit hold together that long with the bolts removed.? Sabotoge , machinic error, rockpile, whatever. it sucks! I still can't get by the fact that two evinrudes had the same problem. One a stratos pro, one a local yocal. The pros is covered, local yocal is left to fend for himself. Go figure.
