    1994 150 faststrike idle control

Does anyone know what controlls the idle on mid 90s model 60* v6's. I have had several of these and all of them when you first start them they run in a high idle untill warm then idle down. The particular motor i am working on periodically will not idle down. Any ideas?

Why do you ask? If you have had several you should know the answer. If you are trying to fix one then that is a different response.

I had a 93 like that and never could find no adjustment, had to have it timed and a link an sync done, timing had to be done with a omc engine tool of some type with motor in water with back pressure on the motor,or at least that's what they said at the dealer, about $50.

I have the same engine, if you think its stuck in Quickstart check the yellow/red wire whilst running, it should only see 12v while the starter is cranking.

If so, that would point toward the starter solenoid....not the PP.
    At least its cheaper.

    "Starter soleniod?"

Yeh the quickstart on the optical versions send a straight 12v directly to the PP from the starter solenoid, only whilst the starter is cranking via the yellow/red wire.

Actually the QuickStart logic is inside the powerpack and is turned on and off by the white-black wire at the port cylinder head temp sensor.

The yellow-red "starter solenoid wire" only powers up the internal powerpack electronics and electric eye while cranking until the power coil on the stator takes over when the motor fires up.

The yellow/red wire supplies voltage "to" the solenoid, not from it, and also to the power pack via the ignition switch, thru the nuetral safety switch. Voltage is only supplied when the switch is in start position. Thus the question, "starter solenoid?"
