Just fished a tournament there this past weekend, the fishing was terrible. Landed one smallmouth during the nine hours on the water. The catfish bite was much better.

There were several boats out in the hybrid and white area near Temple Lake Park, dunno if it was productive or not. But yeah like Bill said, the fishing was horrible and my TM broke at sunrise, first hour of sunrise and I got no TM... One fish near sunrise on a craw for me...

I think Skip told the fish he wouldn't be in town so they took the day off!

Sorry the bite was off you the night tournament boy's. The early morning bite is still fair early on topwater, flukes, and senko's. During the day you have to depend on rattletraps, crankbaits ect. Some area a c-rig will work. Right now the lake is low about 5' or so and the bite is a tad tough. The hybirds and sandies are still active early around Temple Lake Park on the west and nw area. Got to run to Mexia in the morning. I will try to get out the thursday are friday morning for a few hours. More than likely it will be saturday morning. Any of you guys coming down that want to call me send me an IM and I'll send you my number.

    Re: Belton (Skip)

Well, I did ok on sun. I ended up with 10.59lbs for the tourney and first. I caught 2 on a topwater early and missed another followed it up with a jig and caught him. Did not have another bite until 2:15 and ended up pulling into a creek that had a flat with some fallen trees on the flat and caught four fish in about 20 min. on a shallow running crankbait, the water was stained so that could have been why the fish were there. It was really hot out there and with so long between fish it was not fun.
