Coonass needs help from the Tx. boys!

Fellas, I have to go fish Lake Palestine in a couple of days, and I've never been there in my life!

Any info you can pass on would be greatly appreciated!

Where I can find maps, reports, etc.....

    Thanks in advance!

I haven't fished it in many years but I use to love it. Two words Boat Docks. Not sure about a map. I'll check out the local Academy here this afternoon and if they have one I could pick one up and mail it to you if you like.

OK but you don't owe me nothing. Just trying to help a fellow fisherman.

Maybe a few. I've been doing this awhile. I've fished most all the lakes within a 2 1/2 hour drive of Dallas. And Several in East Texas and a few in South Texas. Haven't went West to far though, but I have fish a couple out that way. Martha has been fishing with me sense the mid '80's. I love going to a lake I've never been on and figuring it out. I never ask what they are biting on are where they are at, only the water conditions and navigation dangers. Martha and I both love fishing and we go.

He couldn't get that big ChampioN opened up before he got to the other end. And then he'd have to spend a week washing the red mud off of it.

When it dried up in 2000, they did some dozer work on the creek, so I reckon you could probably run all the way from the dam to the FM707 bridge!! It filled back up in July 01 and has remained right at full ever since. The city now pumps 4 million (right Ron?) a day of effluent water into it. The golf courses, the base, and ACU use that for irrigation.

It's a real hot little crappie lake, but that red water is hard to take. Even if I had an old jon boat, I don't think I'd put it in there ... Phantom is bad enough!1

I used to drive by there everyday on the way to school and never wet a hook in that thing. I had a couple of stock tanks close to me that I would sneak over to.

I've never fished there either. Pulled my son out of the mud out there a few times between midnight and 3:00AM ...

Sorry Troy, I didn't mean to hijack your post ... c'mon over & I'll buy you a cold one!!

Try up in Kickapoo Creek. I did a tourney there a few weeks back and there are plenty of nice sized ones up there, it will just take you a while to get back up in there.

    Troy,
Be cautious anywhere on Palestine. There are some dangerous areas towards the Neches end of the lake as well as some very HIGH spots on the upper end too. Look for new grass as the area should have received some good rain. I have had two tourneys there this year and did fairly well on traps and brush hogs. Fish should still be pretty much in all phases, mostly spawn and post spawn
