    Ryan Newman Tx

Anyone planning to fish the Ryan Newman tournament on Norman this year?

Alot of the guys I have talked to say no. They do not pay money back to the field. I know it's for a good cause???? The way it was run left alot of room for improvement. Don't miss the Ledbetter and the Rotary Club Tournament both in March good $$$$$$$ pay back, not used boat. Winter Trail starting Dec. 6, 2008

Got that right Boots. Hear he's giving away his used (albeit lightly used I'm sure) boat that he gets for free anyway.... Nice huh?

C'mon Newman, you won the Daytonoa race, make a gazillion bucks, how about you come off a little of that cash and give a pile of it to the charity (yes it is a great cause) and also incent lots of fisherman to come to the event so you have more to contribute and it becomes like the Ledbetter which has lots of guys standing in line to get in to it because it's run so darn well.

Have a feeling this one will be lightly attended based on last years event. Boots is right, Ledbetter and Rotary club tourney's are where it's at and then it's the fishing with DJ trail on Norman every Sat and Sun. Cheap entry, great payout, good fisherman, good time.

I fished the first one, it was pretty well run IMO. I have registered for this year too.

The first one was out of Blythe which could handle the crowd. Last year like this year is out of Queens. Bad ramp for a big crowd . Maybe this year they will at least open the gate so you don't have to climb over the fence to weigh your fish
With the water up you won't be able to beach your boat in there either.

    Re: Ryan Newman Tx (Neilslure)

Was going to fish it but I think I will be fishing the J&J tournaments instead. Much better payouts for the money invested ( even if is has been about three years since I have won one of those tournaments!)

    Re: Ryan Newman Tx (splash)

Invitation Only is correct, One Fifty dollar PLUS BIG FISH for early entry, and now $200.00 PLUS BIG FISH is your invitation. Show me the money, not a used boat. You are fishing for first and hats and coolers.

What kinda weights has it took in the previous years? How far in the field do they pay?

    Re: Ryan Newman Tx (proguide)

There are no cash prizes as far as i know. First prize is Ryans Newmans used ranger boat , the rest are donated prizes down through about 12th place i believe.

It is for a good cause, there will be several pros in it. Dave Wolak won it last year with 13lbs
