    Where does everyone launch ?

I usually launch at Hope Springs in Aquia or Smallwood in Mattawoman. I usually stay in the creek i launch in due to only having a 17.5ft aluminum boat with a 60hp motor.

So the question is, what are some other decent ramps in other creeks ? Is there a public ramp in Quantico ? Any restricted areas there ? I wanna leave this discussion pretty open because im still trying to learn this part of the river. So any info you can think of, just throw it at me

I don't fish tourneys so don't feel threatned ! If you have info and don't want to post it to the public, feel free to PM me !

I enjoy catching Snakeheads too, so if they are taking over your spot, let me know and ill come get those bastids !

You have a free ramp inside Quantico right at the Hospital point area near the rail road tracks on Quantico creek.

Try Occoquan Park. It takes 20 minutes through the no wake to get to the mouth at Belmont Bay but some good fishin along the way.

Just be careful there as the ramp does not extend as far you might think. Just a little bit up the road from Quantico (5 miles) is the Leesylvania State Park. My boat is the same size and motor as yours Matty and I store it there. You can buy an annual launch and parking permit and may save you money from the Hope facility. In addition, the facility is first class with two double wide concrete launch ramps, floating piers and acres of blacktop parking.. The annual rate is $141 for unlimited launching and parking. The office is right inside the gate on the right.

Matty, I forgot to add that to get to Leesylvania State Park, when you come down 66 you exit onto 234 towards Dumfries. It is then 30 minutes to where it ends on Route 1. Turn left at the light and go 3 miles to the WAWA. Turn right there and the state park is 5 minutes. Our grandson lives in Inwood, so we have made the drive many times. We live near the intersection of 234 and route 1. I am guessing it would be 1 hr 45 minutes for you to reach the park.

Yea, thats the way i go to Aquia...i think its pretty much the best option. Im only about 10 minutes from Inwood ! I guess its pretty much a straight shot across the river to Mattawoman with no interference ?

    Re: (HalBrown)

Mattawoman is 10 minutes with our boats and Belmont Bay/Occoquan is also 10 minutes. Pohic Bay is a 15 min run north and Chicamuxen is 13 minutes. Mallows Bay is about 14 minutes for our boats.

Q Creek is good as well. Looks shallow, but really no issues for the most part. You can get the frikin SNOT beat out of you going across from Lees to Matawoman...incoming tide, outgoign wind can get the rollers up. Add to that the yahooers and it can get a good bit bouncy! Matt, call me this weekend on those rods.....I am TAD to Florida now, RTB Friday.

Yeah it's shallow, you need to turn off the depth finder and go for it.
