    1980 Garage Fit Question

I am trying to determine if I can squeeze a 1980 in my garage. I measure straight from the back wall to the door and I'm right at 21 feet. If I angle I can get close to 22ft 6 inches. I see the length online stating with the tongue open and motor trimmed the overall length is 22'6". Has anyone measured with the motor all the way trimmed down, turned to one side, and the front angled down? Will it free up a few inches? Anyone have a suggestion on how I can determine the fit?

be aware that measurement was on a boat without a jack plate..
if you add a jack plate that will increase your length..

IF you get an ultrex, the bracket sticks out an additional 2-3" over the front also

If it helps at all, the inside dimension of my garage measures 21'6" from the interior of the door to the back of the garage using a laser. I have an 1880 and with the trailer open and the trolling motor bracket off the front, motor trimmed down and turned, I have about 2" of clearance for my door to close. Hope that helps.

I have about 23'4" in my garage and my 2080 has the motor down, turned all the way left, swing open and I have approx. 1" to my garage door. I do have the G2 on mine so I have the 4" built in setback. Hope that gives you an idea.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't think to incorporate the additional trolling motor length and also the jack plate if I get one. On the one hand, it sounds like the 1880 will barely fit, and on the other if a 2080 fits in ~23, then I would guess a 1980 would fit in 22'6". Then again, maybe I'm letting my emotions outweigh the data. Anyone have one in San Antonio TX by chance I can do a test fit with? (long shot I know)

If I remember correctly, I measured a 1980 with no plate on it and it was 22'6" from the front of the trolling motor guard (longest point in the front) to the back of the engine (not turned). You would be very close on a 1980 with no plate....
