    bad ECU

    Hi Guys,
    I have a 1999 200 fitch

I have been having an issue that I can the motor will not start. The shop says no spark. They have gone over the entire manual, they can fire each cylinder fine when attached to the laptop. Even changed the optical ignition parts. Still no spark.

the ECU is not reporting any faults. Current recommendation is to replace ECU. Big bucks. This will be the second time in 2 years. Had to change it out once before when it was throwing random ground faults and coil alarms...

Is this a common thing to have to replace the ECU 2 times in 10 years?

    What do you all think?

You could ship it down to DFI and have them work their magic.

The PDP is one area of trouble with a no start problem. They develop solder fatigue in that year range.
