Anybody here ever fished the Rappahannock?

I know this is the Potomac Board but it being so close... I post this question. Never really fished the Rap...Been here for 10 years got a boat and here a lot of about the bass here. Never really see the pressure like on the Potomac. Any hints suggestions on where to start.
    Thanks

Piscataway used to be good....drought several years back wiped out the pads...not so good anymore. Catpoint is good if you can get to the back but some big flats to get across in there

Hicks landing up river is good...but if you go downriver a couple of miles it can get hairy. you are either in the channel or high and dry

Well Probably Hick's Landing For LM. I know that bridge is funny on high tides up Cat Point. I wish I knoew so much more of this fishery being it's like 20-30 minutes from me. It's actually closer then the Potomac. I'm looking for a small club that fishes the Rapp. But then again I am in Saltwater country. I love Bass Fishing.

Kris--Also try putting in at June Parker's ramp. It's by the Tappahannock bridge. Go to the back of Mount landing creek as far as you can go and throw a buzzbait on low outgoing. Grass and pads. Shallow skinny water but the fish get back there in July and August.

if you go down river hit gouldmans creek, and the first creek on the right after bridge.(NOTE: most if not all creek must be entered on plane...but you better better pick the right path or its gets ugly) both creeks have alot of pads. if you go up river just stop at every creek you see and throw a 4 to 6 ft crankbait at the mouth, that will almost always get you fish. as for clubs that fish the rapp in that area. the only ones i know of are anglers challenge-eaarls and a trolling motor only club. the guys from earls will bring some serious weight to the scale in spring and fall, (15 to 22 lbs).

I grew up fishing on this river, the June Parker area and Port Royal areas are two different areas all together(fishing styles).I personally would fish and prefer the Port Royal area.I'll give you some advice and secrets that those ol'boys use their. The secret is to look for reverse flow, meaning if you are fishing a area ie creek mouth or marsh banks and say the tide is flowing out, look for small areas that actually looks like the tide is coming in (there are secrets in that spot) They sink pallets, cinder blocks all kinds of things at these areas.I actually have not fished it in about 2 years (think the salt slowed things down for awhile). If you put in at Hicks Landing you can just drop your trolling motor and fish either way.Running the river is a little riskey, take your time and point your bow at every bouy and you'll be fine.Awsome river but it does get a little crowed on weekends.Let me know if I can help anymore.
