    Ford vs Chevy

What do you need your fishfinder to do mostly?

I have both on my boat. After using several seasons my vote is Garmin. One BIG reason Humminbird's update procedure. One problem gets fixed but causes another problem. When updating Humminbird MFD'S restore to default
before and after. Then have to go back and restore all preferred settings. Garmin stick card in update ---done. Easy and troublefree as it gets.

I have yet to buy a new or used Garmin that doesn't work right out of the box. I cannot say the same for Humminbird.

DI and SI I have to give edge to Humminbird. 2D edge to Garmin. Mapping pretty equal. Trolling motor interface Humminbird wins here hands down.

Innovation Garmin with Livescope/ Panoptix wins this hands down.

After all is said and done. You have to decide what is most important to you. My choice was ease of use, reliable and efficient fish finder ( panoptix) made my choice Garmin.
    Helix Mega 10 SI G2N , ILink
Garmin 1040 XS / Garmin 1242 xsv with Panoptix Down VU PS 30 W/ GCV 10 networked with PS 31. Boat Rig

Echomap Ultra 106 SV with Livescope 12 . Ice Rig
