I'm still wearing the guidewear from the early 2000's ……..new guidewear too thin for me.....so my son and partner have been testing Gill Tournament Jacket and Bibs …...that will be the replacement since its thicker than the new guidewear. All that being said if I was only fishing in the warmer months guidewear maybe the ticket

    IMHO

A 20 year old Cabellas Goretex for warm weather, Columbia Omni-Tec Interchange coat and Bugaboo pants for cold light rain, a new BPS 100mph suit. If the weather gets really bad I just go into my camper trailer and lay back in the recliner. When you have six Saturdays and one Sunday a week no need to fight it.

Does anyone find value in military surplus gortex like I do? I have 2 sets, first set is gen3 ECWS pants and parka I got for $100, they were like new. Its a little heavy for summer wear. Set 2, not really a set but the pants are(were at the time) German issue gortex I got for $25 and for a $100 I got a brand new most recent generation of ECWS outer jacket and it is very light. I haven't gotten to try this one out much but it was effective and keeping a light drizzle out the last time I went fishing a couple weeks ago. I choke at what consumer rain gear goes for and unless I hit the lottery I will never drop a dime on it.

I have an old Gill Inshore Light jacket and some Frabil F2 bibs from a few years ago. The jacket has been one of my best investments, its well over seven years old and still keeps me dry and breathes well. Excellent product. The Frabill Bibs gave up the ghost this winter and leaked through the legs and seat during a heavy rain. They will be replaced with the Gill Tournament bibs this year I'd love to with the the ProDry, but my experience with Gill has been fantastic and they're much cheaper.

When I head north, I'll just layer and I'm still happy and comfortable.
On sale, about $150.00 for the entire set. And they hold up very well.
I do like the marmot. Have you stayed all day in the rain with them yet? Have you sat in a pool of water?

I’ve had the Bass Pro 100MPH, Cabela’s Guidewear and now the Simms Pro Dry. Hands down Simms is my favorite. Look on EBay or check websites for sales. Good luck.

I wear Columbia Water Tite II in the summer and Columbia PFG cold weather stuff for winter. It's moderately priced and good quality, no complaints so far.

I bought the BP Pro Qualifier suit and absolutely love it! Originally I bought a grey suit but one day when I was in BP in Branson, they had a sale on the orange jacket and well I love orange and so got that jacket. Did a video review on it if interested:

BPS 100MPH bibs and jacket when cool/cold.
Columbia Watertight II parka and Rebel Roamer pants when warm/hot.
Wouldn’t think you rarely, if ever, need any cold weather gear in Lafayette Parrish.

And anything heavier than "Lightweight" You'll end up just as wet but w/perspiration. Head to a local Country Club or Muni and get something that You can move around in and keep dry...
