    OU football camp help?

I know this is kind of off topic but thought I'd try here......I'm seriously considering signing my nephew up for coach Stoops's summer camp for high school kids. Just wondered if anyone here has been to his camp as a player or parent or has any personal experience with it? I was going to ask this in the Lounge but.....it's the lounge and we all know what would've happened in there Given the fact that I love fishing Grand Lake he may get signed up regardless and we'll hit Grand for a day on the way home?

    Thanks
    BA

Sorry I can't help with an answer to your primary question, but this will take your inquiry back to the top.

If he is serious about football, camps like this are a great help. Most all major college programs have camps as a way to check out the kids that are serious and check their skill level. Regardless, he will learn a great deal about what the high level colleges are looking for. He will also be exposed to the top 5% of the OK high school players and see where he needs to improve. It can only help.

thx Sooner for the bump and Bob thanks to you as well. He's VERY serious about it and was a varsity starter at LB this year as a sophomore on a class 3A(Iowa only goes up to 4A which is big schools)team. The kid just oozes talent and ability and hits like a runaway train....had several people tell me towards the end of this past season that the way he's progressing he's got Div.1 college potential. He's got the physical part pretty much down but needs to learn how to play the mental side of the game and techniques better so was looking for a camp where he could get some one on one time with someone like coach Venables who DEFINITELY knows defense and how to play LB. Thanks for the help so far guys

Gary, I talked to a couple of friends. They said If your boy is in High School he will benefit greatly, any younger, and it's more or less a fundamental course. After seeing your post above, I believe, your boy would benefit greatly, as I trust the sources of information I recieved, w/my life. Very good guys. Sign him up, and why he's busting his rear at camp, we can be busting the lips off some fish
