I finished the intstall on my "new to me" 175 DI. Everthing seams to work good so far only my trim gauge is reading backwards. When I trim up it goes down and vise versa. Any ideas?![]()

or the wires are wrong, pretty simple thing.
swapping wires dosnt work tried it on mine (so not so simple maybe). Is it a OMC/Evinrude gauge.(i know merc gauge works backwards on evinrude)if not will probably have to get proper gauge.

The old OMC stern drives used a trim gauge that would read backwards on an outboard. One model trim gauge had just the needle and some markings on the gauge face so it could be turned one way or the other to read correctly. Perhaps you have that gauge, if so, turn it around in the dashboard to read right.

I did go from a Merc to an Evinrude. The dealer told me the guages were interchangeable but maybe he was wrong.
Mine worked fine but just read backwards. I turned it 180 degrees now its fine.Tried reversing +/- wires but it just shot up high and stayed there.
