hey guys. I was at the lake this weekend and went to go fishing on my javelin 389 Sunday morning and I couldn't get my engine to start. normally the boat starts right up and is very responsive to the key being turned. I heard the flywheel spinning but the engine would not start. I got a pair of jumper cables, put them to my trolling motor battery and she cranked right up. used the boat all day and evening as well and then docked it and returned the next morning to the same problem. turned the key, heard It spinning but would not engage and start. I hooked back up the jumper cables but this time that would not work either. seems to me maybe my Bendix is not engaging the flywheel. last time I had seen a problem like this was when a friend with a 60 hp evenrude. we sprayed dry lube on his bendex and found a loose connection at his battery terminals. ive checked my battery terminals and everything is tight. only thing I see is that maybe the cranking cord to the battery is getting a bit oxidized and brown. this boat has been good and ran well all weekend, would love to figure out why I cant get her to crank over now. anybody have this problem before or know how I can fix this? please and thank you
