i am helping my buddy set up his Sterling...he's got the white with red and black stripes and black bottom....
it came with a 27 HYDROMOTIVE 4 blade with dual holes in it...and that prop SUCKS on this rig...TOO BIG...came out hole sluggish, got even more sluggish in mid range and took 2 miles to max out on big end at 75.6gps with 2 people and 30 gallons of gas...
we yanked it off and i let him try my worked 27 tempest, jumped out of hole, excellent mid range and ran 76.5gps with same load...
pulled the tempest off and i strapped my stock 27 trophy on it...really needed to close one more pvs hole, but managed to get on plane by peddling hot foot...BUT WOW...unbelievable mid range, and 77.5 with same load...he was so excited, he dropped me off on dock and took it out by himself and no water in live wells and swears he pulled 81.1(???)...i didn't witness this...
NOW, because of hearing how the 27 FURY runs on others boats, he really really wants to just order one of those, but i have urged him to stay with the 4 blade per posts of other STERLING owners...is this correct?
