Launched from the City Park ramp at first light. Started on the flats right across from the dam with a baby bass colored pencil popper. Caught three nice fish in 10 feet of water with grass below.Tried the channel south of the dam and the rip rap west of the south ramp with no luck. Weird wind...light out of the northeast. Surface temperature of the water was 92 degrees. Saw four or five boats in "pump in cove" and suspect they were looking for sandbass or hybrids. At about 8:00 AM I found schooling fish east of the island and at the mouth of the first big cove east and north of the City Park ramp. They were smaller schools and stayed up very short periods of time. No luck with the swim bait, all of the fish came on top water. The pencil popper and a chrome torpedo worked for me. Caught twelve fish on of which was a sandbass and one of which was a small hybrid. Loaded ou about 11:15 AM
