2007 Ranger Z20 Fuel Line Replacement
Hello Everyone,
My fuel line appears to be leaking on both sides of the primer bulb at the clamps. I am planning to replace my fuel lines from the engine all the way to the selector switch. I have researched the forums and would appreciate confirmation/advice of the following plan. I am decent at working on vehicles and boats but always do my homework. Especially when we have a great resource like Bass Boat Central and you all.
Here is what I plan so far:
• Remove the bench seat (Done that before and it is relatively simple).
• I have access to an endoscope camera so I will do some advanced scouting under the deck.
• People in other forums recommend soaking the selector valve screws in liquid wrench and removing for ease of access. I will follow this advice.
• It appears 3/8" fuel line is required from the tank to the primer bulb and 5/16" from the primer bulb to the engine. Others recommend extra line as a loop is required at the selector to prevent kinking. Makes sense, and I will follow this recommendation.
Would completely removing the tanks and cleaning them be much more difficult? Is there a fuel pump or sending unit I need to replace?
I would like to go ahead a redo it all while I am in there. I plan to repower this boat when the current 225 Mercury Optima Pro XS goes, and it would be good to have it all new and ready.
Thank you all for the help and advice. I appreciate it.
