GRDA Shoreline Management Plan........ "Long" My Rant

Ok guys and gals '
GRDA is currently developing a Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) for Grand Lake, it will determine the amount of commercial development that is to be allowed in the future on the lake. There is a tremendous amount of pressure from the marinas and developers to allow a significant increase in the number of Marinas,docks,70+ foot houseboats and homes that already crowd the shoreline and fishable water. All of you are aware of the amount of fishable water has steadily been on the decrease and will dwindle to nothing if we don't stand up for our rights. They want to allow what they are calling habitable structures.(these are 2 story floating homes with a dock underneath them) now along with all the cables and ropes we will be hung up on door bells and wind chimes The lake was built for all people not just the wealthy. If we want to heard we need to notify GRDA the email address is smp@grda.com let them know that you want what few remaining natural areas left for those who do not own property or businesses on Grand Lake to be able to use the lake for fishing ,camping, swimming ect. and we need better management of the lake to improve the fishery and the water quality....(man would i like to see smallies stocked) we need to let them know that the SMP plan fairly represent all Oklahomans and all out of state recreational users of the lake and that GRDA has a responsibility to be a voice for us to....
If any of you are ole timers like me ,you know as well as i do about all the willows we used to have that are now gone , dozed, ect. they have been dredged and a huge boat setting there with about 10 cables running every direction

so they are wanting to build more homes and docks on the water? and allow the 70+ cruisers? thats stupid they are asking for trouble there look at LOZ its still one of the best fisheries in the state here but it is also one of the most dangerous lakes in the country ranked like #3 i think

I was thinking the exact same thing! Turning Grand into another LOZ....I am not sure if thats a good thing or bad thing.. I am not that familiar with Grand other than the Rally we fished in Oct. But if it turns into a dock type fishery that rivals LOZ I cant see that as a bad thing. But I am not a Wildlife Biologist. Economic growth will be the determining factor here. Its always about the almighty dollar, and what the Local Chambers of commerce think it'll do for the towns in the monetary end! ONNCE again I'm no expert I have no historical experience "the old days" Ive only fished it once so I guess I may be talking about something I have no business delving into

luke its not the small residential stuff it is the commercail developers .....wanting to build marinas 1 mile long and out in the lake over 500 feet they have gotten so bad in duck creek that there is just a boat lane between the marinas on the east and marinas on the west.......you can just about forget fishing duck creek anymore unless you want to fish a boat lane out in the middle and let the yachts run over you..........if the want to keep it up I want them to pay for putting grass in the lake! or at least leave some cables out and design them where a fisherman can get behind them to fish ........right now you can't even get within 100 yds of the bank
