    Must have add ons?

I ordered my first bass boat last week. I went with the ZX250. What are some must have add-ons. I already added a second power pole, upgraded to the Ultrex and put a hydraulic jackplate on. I also bought the wireless foot buttons for the power poles and a Eliminator prop nut. I know there are probably some simple things that would make life easier. Help a noob out! Thanks

Looking at a new ZX250 myself. I'm adding what you mentioned plus

    1. Hole shot plate for jackplate if it doesn't come with one
    2. Boat Cover
    3. Motor Cover
    4. Side Console (because I'm old and so are my friends)
    5. Deck Lights
    6. Hydrowave
    7. Transducer Shield(s) for Jackplate

    Congrates on your new boat!!

I did get the cover. Thinking about getting a motor cover too. I hear they are a must have when trailering your boat. I'm not sure what a hole shot plate is. If it didn't come standard then I don't think I got it. Deck lights will eventually be an add on. Congrats on your boat as well!

I was in that stage for a while myself.
Now that looks like a simple but effective add on! Do you have experience with on? As in using one as opposed to not using one?

My boat was a demo boat in MLF so it was pretty loaded out from Phoenix so I have not had experience without one. For a $50 adder you can't go wrong, should also help backwash when coming off plane as well

Might want to add a jackplate gauge. Sometimes its a pain in the neck (literally) to turn around an look to see where it's at. I know where mine likes to run most of the time but I am always adjusting it on the fly.

I'll have a gauge for sure. I talked to my dealer about his thoughts on the hole shot plate. He said he's never needed one for a Skeeter. No backwash or water coming up behind the jack plate. I can always add one later if needed.

I have a hole shot plate on my 2017 FX 21 LE. It makes a difference. I get a better hole shot and not much bow lift. As far as water coming up over the back deck, I do get that unless I feather it.

NMEA 2000 starter kit if it doesn't come with one and a Yamaha interface cable.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll definitely check these out. Is the NMEA kit for networking the electronics? If so I'll have that. I think the Yamaha cable would be a good add on.

First and foremost, don't settle for the whimpy cranking battery that most dealers put it. Get something with really good capacity.

Come on now, I had a great time trolling back for 2 miles after mine wouldn't start. The old "I'll only be out for an hour, I don't need to bring any beer" will NEVER happen again

No need in my humble opinion for the hole shot plate...all add ons' otherwise mentioned here are nice and I have them on my 2016 ZX225 aside from the Bluewater lights...in addition to all of these I have a second butt seat, and opted to purchase a vented motor cover made by Tuffskinz...and power pole covers by Rod Warriors. the pole covers have the bug logo on them and the motor cover has the phrase "hammertime" printed on it in the same script as my truck logo. I own a construction business so I thought it would eye catching...and it definitely turns heads on the road or on the water. The cover stays on the motor at all times until oil needs to be checked or service is required and protects it from "bad casters". I also leave the power pole covers on when I am fishing an only deep water lake...if you are going to install the NMEA system link...consider the Sonic Hub...I like mine. It allows you to control stereo functions right from the Lowrance in the helm...you can add an amp too...also Sirius radio...pretty cool! Have fun and enjoy your new boat when it arrives!

Sorry...the battery thing is VERY important! I forgot to mention this...my dealer's standard batteries both for trolling motor and cranking battery are of Deka brand and I have had no issues with them...Hope this helps!

I'll check out the battery situation but the last boat I bought from them came with good interstate batteries. No issues.

Something else to add is upgrade the bow graph. Mine was sent with sonar/gps only after being advertised as DI mega. For the hassle they sent me SI and a new transducer.

    Better transducer than the US2,

Yamaha engine info- This kit is costly with Helix units though. you need the NMEA 2K starter Kit, Yamaha interface Cable, Humminbird 5 port Ethernet box (not sure if this comes with new Zx package), Humminbird NMEA 2K adapter cable, cable from dash graph to box.

You may not need it with with a hydro but I definitely needed one with my 12 inch slidemaster...it also doubles as the best place to mount the lss2 transducer...on the bigger jackplates anyway..

Transducer shield and saver....protect that transducer..don't know how you got it mounted but check and see if there's a better way than what you got on there...those things ain't cheap to replace...congrats on the new boat...
